Dietz #80 Blizzard Cold Blast Lantern
Does using the term "better late than never" really make a difference? I don't even have a good reason why it has taken me so long to get back to this lantern. It is the second lantern I received for Christmas. My son was very proud of himself for going to an antique store and finding this for me. In my head I was afraid of this one. It is taller than anything else I have tried to photograph with my indoor setup. I had to get a little creative. It definitely turned into a Rube Goldberg type setup to achieve what I wanted for this lantern.
I wanted to improve the lighting setup. This beautiful old lantern deserved a little better presentation than I was getting with my previous images. I utilized some natural light from a window and added a few fill flashes to highlight the details. I needed a few attempts to figure out what I was doing and to get the look I wanted. I'm quite happy with the results. Let me know what you think...

Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I will be chronicling my exploration into my photography obsession. I do not have a specific topic or style so the posts will be eclectic and random. I hope that as this site grows you will see improvements in both my photography and my writing.
